Wine & Culinary Festival – April 26, 2025 The presentation of local and guest restaurants with live cooking, socialising with Brda winemakers, street music and dance performances, and a market with local products create a unique festival experience.
The spring event Brda & Wine has a long-standing tradition in the Brda region. While it was primarily a wine event aimed at connoisseurs and enthusiasts just a few years ago, the festival has gained new dimensions in recent years. It has advanced both in the wine and culinary fields and has become the largest food-and-wine event in the region. Simple dishes have been replaced by original and refined plates that perfectly complement the top-quality wines of Brda.
The heart of the event is the picturesque medieval village of Šmartno, located in the geographical centre of Brda. Along the narrow streets of Šmartno, numerous local and guest restaurants present their cuisine with live cooking, accompanied by almost all Brda winemakers.
Visitors can enjoy unlimited tastings of freshly prepared dishes by culinary masters, relax in a friendly atmosphere while pairing flavours with Brda wines, and explore the market, which offers a rich variety of culinary and artisanal products. Stalls feature Brda honey, olive oil, dried fruit, teas, cheeses, cured meats, and other boutique items. A lively music and dance program, enriched with an artistic touch, ensures that a day spent enjoying food, wine, and great company is engaging, flavourful, and truly unforgettable.
Due to the high interest and preparations for the event, the medieval village of Šmartno will be closed to all external visitors on this day, as the entire village transforms into an authentic culinary and wine paradise.
