Mindful tasting

Feel the power of the Brda soil with the northernmost olive groves in the Mediterranean, with indigenous wine varieties, and get to know the almost forgotten ritual wine of the Old Believers.

A visit to Goriška Brda is always a special experience, regardless of whether you reach it by the road that crosses Italy or by taking the local winding road, and regardless of what your plans are in the Slovenian Tuscany. If you want to feel Brda with all your senses, the Intiniti Wine Bliss experience is the right choice for you.

Motnik – the ritual wine of Old Believers

The experience starts in the 17th century baroque castle of Dobrovo. Under the guidance of a mindfulness and psychotherapy expert, you will sense the ancient roots and awaken your senses with the ritual wine used by the Old Believers. The Motnik wine has only recently been rescued from imminent oblivion. Nonoti, as grandparents are called in these parts, produced the wine following very specific procedures and using only the ripest grapes of the indigenous Rebula wine variety. The Motnik wine was kept in barrels made of cherry wood that had been smoked with special healing herbs such as rosemary, bay leaves, savoury, thyme, and sage. All the work in the wine cellar was done only in the phase of the waning of the moon or in windy weather.

Olive oil from the north

Accompanied by the stories about the former life of the farmers of Brdo, embrace a mindful discovery of local produce, always including the local olive oil. The oil is obtained from the northernmost olive groves in the Mediterranean. Their geographical location affects the distinct and specific taste of the olives and the olive oil. As is the habit in Brda, participants take their baskets of local produce to the vineyard, getting to know the wine varieties, olive trees, and soil, through the practice of mindfulness.

Mindfulness as a guided connection with yourself constantly intertwines with local stories. Achieving conscious presence here and now through all five senses, you are guided to become aware of your own roots, while discovering the annual cycle of the grapevine. The basket also includes fresh seasonal fruit and its variations, such as dried fruit and jams. Engage in mindful tasting of products from local producers and seasonal fruit, while enjoying old games and music.

Seasonal and local

The tasting of wine, olive oil, fruit, and other delicacies is not the only tasting to enjoy. You will be able to enjoy a mindful tasting of typical dishes from Brda, prepared in a typical Brda way. You will cut polenta with a string and dip it in the sauce with prosciutto. You will be served cake and Brdo frtalja, a special egg omelette with several herbs.

The amazing landscape of Goriška Brda, the exceptional dishes, and interesting old stories in a mindful way will guide you to achieving a better connection with yourself, others, and your surroundings. You will learn why it is so important to be fully present here and now. Absorb the tradition of Goriška Brda and the love locals have for their land. Treat your senses to a journey into the depths of self-reflection, where the power of nature, art, and science intertwine.
