In the Old Square in the old centre of Ljubljana, a young team led by chef Izidor Kržišnik creates home-made dishes from almost exclusively local ingredients, which are served to guests on artful plates.
There is no classic a la carte menu in the pleasant ambience of the Landerik Restaurant, embellished with Slovenian decorations. Instead, you can indulge in the creative inspiration of chef Izidor Kržišnik. You will experience a wonderful tasting journey through the most beautiful corners of Slovenia. In Landerik, they are always looking for local food and drink producers and their stories. Each of them begins somewhere in the vast countryside and ends with the produce of local farmers being transformed by a trained team of chefs into dishes served with love and respect for their land.
Items such as plates, glasses, cutting boards … were also created by the hands of Slovenian designers and manufactured by Slovenian companies.
The restaurant was founded by Nejc Skubic, a former Slovenian national football team player who dreamed of owning a restaurant since he was a child.
The warm memories of his childhood include his grandfather’s šmorn (Kaiserschmarrn). His grandfather used to prepare it for him every Friday when Nejc returned from practice. And this is how šmorn became the central dish of the Landerik Restaurant. It is made from home-made flour, milled on a stone, and is very fluffy.
Izidor Kržišnik is said to be still water that moves the banks of the predictable in culinary art.
Chef Izidor Kržišnik is a fan of the primal flavours of locally produced ingredients who enjoys reviving and modifying classic dishes. With a mind full of brilliant ideas and the experience that enables them to be executed flawlessly, he creates dishes that will stay in his guests’ memories forever.
He was trained by one of our best chefs, Igor Jagodic from the Strelec Restaurant in Ljubljana Castle, and by chef Mauro Colagreco in the French town of Menton. His restaurant, Mirazur, right on the Italian-French border, boasts an impressive three Michelin stars.
