Otočec Castle is home to top culinary stories

Otočec Castle takes visitors to a fairy tale even at first sight. Located on an island in the middle of the Krka River surrounded by pristine nature, it promises a culinary experience that you will not easily forget.

A wonderful green park surrounds the castle, providing an idyllic backdrop for weddings and other festive events or just for sitting on the bench enjoying the moment.

The mighty wall hides its majesty – the castle. You can go there for some culinary indulgence or a break, as you will feel like royalty in sixteen luxurious rooms and suites with the ambience and staff that will spoil you.

A visit to the castle restaurant is also majestic. There you will be served inventive dishes with exciting flavours made from home-grown ingredients from the castle garden where almost everything that they serve grows.

You can indulge in the majestic culinary experience in various locations inside and outside of the castle. In addition to the restaurant, the Hunter’s and Knight’s Rooms, a glass atrium, a coffee shop under the arches and the castle and garden terraces are available for large groups.

Also attractive is the ambience of the castle tower, which hosts a wine shop with esteemed Slovenian and foreign high-quality wines.

Superb dishes with exciting flavours

The chef likes uncovering the secrets of traditional Slovenian recipes he elaborates with his knowledge and endless imagination, resulting in fresh and healthy dishes characteristic of the region and suitable for the castle environment.

In the castle kitchen, dishes are prepared with prestigious ingredients, such as game, tartar, quail eggs, crayfish, morels, and others. Dishes that you must take time to learn about are provided in various combinations. Guests can choose from three, four or five-course menus. If you want to enjoy a very special culinary experience, choose the seven-course tasting menu with first-class dishes and wines.

Meet the chef

The castle's chef is enthusiastic about the new environment and its tradition

He moved from the island of Cres to Otočec, an island in the Krka River.

Chef Dejan Mišković believes in the power of the fresh ingredients he carefully selects from the surrounding area to ensure that his guests taste the authentic freshness and flavour of the region in every bite. He carefully prepares colourful menus full of local flavours.

His enthusiasm for cooking has been around since his childhood. He started his cooking career at his family’s restaurant on the island of Cres. He came to Slovenia in 2009 and first worked at Hotel Mons in Ljubljana and later at the Embassy of the Federative Republic of Brazil. He has been the restaurant chef at Otočec Castle since 2022.
