Accessibility Statement and Disproportionate Burden Assessment
1. Introduction
This accessibility statement relates to the website www.tasteslovenia.si, whose purpose is to promote Slovenia as a gastronomic destination (hereinafter: the website).
We want to make the use of the website accessible to the widest possible range of users, which is why we continuously adapt it and ensure that it is accessible to users with various forms of impairment.
2. Level of Compliance
The website is partially compliant with the requirements of the Accessibility of Websites and Mobile Applications Act (Official Gazette of the Republic of Slovenia, No. 30/18, 95/21 – ZInfV-A, 189/21 – ZDU-1M and 18/23 – ZDU-1O; hereinafter: ZDSMA), as, despite the fact that we continuously monitor the website and improve individual accessibility elements on an ongoing basis, certain content does not meet all the accessibility requirements set out in the aforementioned act. Exceptions and deviations are listed in Section 4 of this statement.
When upgrading the website and its content, we follow the international guidelines for web content accessibility and comply with the WCAG (Web Content Accessibility Guidelines) 2.1 standard, which is divided into three levels of compliant content: A, AA and AAA. We strive to be compliant with at least level AA.
3. Web Accessibility Elements
From the perspective of web accessibility requirements, the website contains various adaptations in the following areas:
3.1. Perceivable
Goal: all information and all parts of the website must be presented to users in ways they can perceive, meaning that information must not be invisible to the senses users rely on.
3.1.1. Time-based Media
The website does not contain time-based media.
3.1.2. Adaptability
The website's content is largely adaptable and can be used in different ways without loss of information.
There are, however, exceptions where the implementation is not the most suitable for blind and visually impaired users who use a screen reader.
3.1.3. Distinguishability
Text on the website is well arranged even at larger zoom levels. The website has good contrast (at least 4.5:1).
3.2. Operable
Goal: user interface components and navigation must be operable, meaning the ability to use the user interface without requiring specific interactions.
3.2.1. Keyboard Accessibility
Keyboard navigation is possible to a certain extent, but is somewhat difficult in certain respects.
3.2.2. Enough Time to Read Content
The website does not contain time-limited content.
3.2.3. Seizures and Physical Reactions
The website does not contain disruptive advertising elements or other aggressive content that could lead to negative reactions or seizures.
3.2.4. Navigation
The website is logically organized, with a header at the top of the page and a footer at the bottom.
The website has a navigation trail (breadcrumbs) that tells the user where they are located on the website.
The website includes a secondary level of navigation (a plugin), which is accessible by keyboard to a certain extent, but is somewhat difficult in certain respects.
3.3. Understandable
Goal: information and the operation of the user interface must be understandable, meaning that users must be able to understand the information and how to operate the user interface.
3.3.1. Readability
The website is readable and understandable.
3.4. Website Performance Across Different Applications
The website is accessible via various browsers (Chrome, Firefox, Edge) and mostly functions the same way across all browsers. The website is also accessible via mobile devices (e.g. smartphones or tablets – Android, iPhone, iPad).
4. Deviations and Exceptions / Disproportionate Burden Assessment
We continuously monitor the accessibility of the website and improve individual accessibility elements on an ongoing basis. Nevertheless, some published content does not meet all the accessibility requirements set out in the Accessibility of Websites and Mobile Applications Act.
Examples of such content include:
4.1. Text Alternatives
The website contains a large amount of image and video material that has not yet been fitted with text alternatives, and which we are addressing according to priority (the most visited pages on www.tasteslovenia.si, new content published since 18 December 2024, etc.). Due to the nature of the content, a large part of the website's content is enriched with images and video material.
4.2. Navigation / Keyboard Accessibility
The website includes a secondary level of navigation (a plugin) used to share content on other platforms (social networks). This side menu is not fundamentally accessible, due to the semantics of the elements, over which the developer has no control. The website uses the external plugin "ShareThis".
4.3. Heading Markup
In some places on the website, headings do not follow the recommended sequence (H1, H2, H3…), and a different sequence has been used instead (e.g.: H1, H3, …).
4.4. Focus Indicator
In some places on the website, the focus indicator may not be sufficiently distinct, and not all elements have the same or a similar outline.
4.5. Menu Structure
Due to the nature and volume of the content, the website uses a multi-level menu, which in some parts is based on graphical selection (graphic display) that may be more difficult to access via screen readers in certain parts. Navigation is more difficult for blind and visually impaired users.
4.6. Forms / Contact Forms
The website features forms/contact forms from third-party providers (embedded/integrated). In the event of an incorrectly completed form, these forms provide insufficient indication of incorrectly filled-in fields. The operator has no control over the functioning of third-party forms and, as a result, cannot guarantee full compliance.
4.7. Video and Audio Content
The website features numerous video content (video) and audio content (podcasts / other audio recordings) that currently do not have text alternatives arranged. Most of this content currently does not include subtitles and audio transcription or audio description (for video content) and transcription (for video and audio content). For multimedia content recorded before 23 September 2020, such adaptation is not mandatory. For certain content, the Slovenian Tourist Board assesses that adapting all content appropriately would result in disproportionate financial consequences, given the large volume of content. Multimedia content will be addressed according to priority and page visits during 2025. Newly created content will be appropriately equipped with elements ensuring compliance.
