A luxuriously set table. Heavy candle holders. The gloss and patina of the interior maintain the atmosphere from the beginning of the 20th century, when numerous renowned guests ate here. The kitchen, on the other hand, oozes fresh energy and the scent of masterpieces.
The perfect film scene created by the luxurious interior and a breathtaking view of the surface of Lake Bled is only missing actors. In addition to kings, presidents, divas, Nobel prize winners and artists, actors frequently dined here.
This was largely thanks to Tito, the legendary former Yugoslav president. He was so overcome with the Julian Alps and glacial Lake Bled that he chose Bled for the location of his holiday residence. His renowned guests who joined him for a break also kept him company at Julijana.
Julijana Restaurant is located in Grand Hotel Toplice, one of the oldest and finest hotels in Bled, also known for the famous original Bled cream cake. To this day, boutique Julijana has preserved its intimate and nostalgic atmosphere which is particularly suitable for festive and romantic occasions. It has twenty seats with another twenty on the extraordinary terrace in the warmer months.
When it comes to food, Julijana’s nostalgic memories of the past instantly disappear. The kitchen exudes fresh energies and the scent of culinary masterpieces from Chef Simon Bertoncelj.
And here is a hint. If you want to taste Julijana’s genuine flavours, pick the speciality of the day. For a more complex culinary experience, order the tasting menu or let the chef host you in the kitchen in the middle of which a table for two may be set.
Fresh high-quality ingredients, bold flavours, modern process technologies and excellent arrangement are reflected in exquisite, rich, harmonious and mouth-watering plates. Regardless of what you order.
You can find a range of dishes on a menu with just the right number of dishes. You may choose equally between fish and meat. Regardless of your choice, expect an explosion of flavours which will keep all your senses busy. This may be credited largely to top ingredients with an emphasis on the local and fresh, and to the remarkable chef.
Chef Simon Bertoncelj is a perfectionist with a sense for sophisticated tastes and perfect plates.
He decided to become a top chef when he was a child. The work of this member of the Slovenian national cooking team is based on traditional French cuisine which is constantly upgraded with new knowledge and experiences.
He trained under Gordon Ramsay, Marc Meurin, a French chef with two Michelin stars, and Bobby Bräuer.
