Ana Roš Joins Global Culinary Elite with Luxury Food 2026 Award
Slovenian chef Ana Roš, the creative force behind the three-MICHELIN-starred Hiša Franko in the Soča Valley, has received the prestigious Luxury Food 2026 award in Rome. Recognised alongside some of the world's most influential chefs, Roš continues to bring international attention to Slovenia's distinctive culinary identity, rooted in local ingredients, sustainability and a deep connection to place.
The award was presented at a ceremony at Palazzo Giustiniani in Rome, home to the Italian Senate, honouring 32 internationally renowned chefs for their contributions to contemporary gastronomy. Among the recipients were Hélène Darroze, Massimiliano Alajmo, Enrico Crippa and Mauro Uliassi.
The inaugural Luxury Food Awards, conceived by journalist Annalisa Cavaleri with the support of Gian Marco Centinaio, Vice-President of the Italian Senate, celebrate a changing perception of luxury in gastronomy. Rather than opulence, the awards place the spotlight on authenticity, creativity, cultural heritage, sustainability and respect for local traditions.
For Roš, whose culinary philosophy is closely tied to the landscapes, seasons and ingredients of Slovenia's Soča Valley, the recognition reflects the values that have helped establish Hiša Franko as one of the world's leading dining destinations.
The award also reinforces Slovenia's growing international reputation as a gastronomic destination, where distinctive local traditions and innovative culinary approaches come together to create exceptional dining experiences.
