  • MICHELIN GUIDE 2023

Slovenian culinary experience behind castle walls

Gostilna na Gradu will take you down memory lane to the experience of your grandmother’s cooking.

You are in for an extraordinary castle experience in the centre of the town, high up on the hill sheltered by Ljubljana Castle.  As you treat your taste buds, you can enjoy a magnificent view of Ljubljana, bask in the sun and go back in time at Gostilna na Gradu.

A rich historic and cultural world of the restaurant highlights top-quality dishes prepared for you by chefs led by Luka Jezeršek and Sebastjan Elbl.

Gostilna na Gradu has been attracting locals and travellers from around the world for many years. And never disappoints.

Indulge in the magic flavours of 24 Slovenian regions

Gostilna na Gradu is a place where you don’t go only to feed your stomach, but also to feed your soul.

Each visit to this restaurant is different. The menu changes with the seasons with the support of nature, as dishes only contain fresh and high-quality local ingredients.

Their inspiration is the recipes of our grandmothers, which they give a modern twist. They attempt to include flavours from 24 gastronomic regions of Slovenia with 178 characteristic dishes in their range of flavours.

Indulge in culinary explosions and try beef tongue with green beans and smoked cottage cheese or soft veal liver with Raka red onions and fennel and mashed potatoes. Leave some space for homemade bread, which is out of this world, with a crunchy crust and a warm, soft centre, which melts in your mouth.

Luka’s parents began the family business forty years ago, when his father set up his first kitchen in the garage and began by catering private events. That is why Luka jokes that he was born in the kitchen. The real reason is probably that cooking was presented to all four sons as something beautiful.
