Royal pampering for the most demanding gourmets arriving here from everywhere.
Ljubljana Castle rising just above the old city centre of Ljubljana provides one of the most beautiful views of the town. To reach the castle, you may take a funicular or walk along numerous footpaths. If you choose to drive to the restaurant, there is a car park available.
Surrounded by the castle walls, the round Archers’ Tower is home to the attractive castle Strelec Restaurant.
A round staircase at Strelec leads to a round dining room. You can see a wine shop through the floor, and Ljubljana through the windows, while walls are adorned with artistic paintings. The terrace provides a view of Ljubljana sitting below and the Alps rising in the distance.
Chef Igor Jagodic devises here his perfected plates that are a combination of Pannonian, Alpine and Mediterranean influences, of modernity and the past, of the urban and the rural. He uses seasonal and as local as possible ingredients. You have enough to chose from, and everything is good.
Begin with Scallops. Continue with excellent roe deer, veal tongue or wild fish, followed by something sweet or light. Perhaps home-made ice cream or sorbet. Or a selection of Slovenian cheeses.
Gourmet plates full of colours, aromas, textures, details, and freshness constantly change, but the distinct style remains the same. Chef’s.
The golden menu contains a varied choice of dishes and well-organised service will lead you through it.
Tasting menus are available for every occasion, from short three-course to nine-course menus.
Aesthetic, perfected, but particularly and always good. These are the principles followed by Chef Igor Jagodic when creating his masterpieces.
He received an enviable series of awards at prestigious international cooking competitions: gold and silver medals at Intergastra, a silver medal at Global Chefs Challenge, two bronze medals at the Culinary Olympics in Erfurt, and another one at Expogast Culinary World Cup in Luxembourg. He was named Chef of the Year 2019 by the international gastronomic guide Gault & Millau 2019. Nevertheless, he is most proud of his creations at Strelec.
