When you stop in an area with branded products, you can feel the destination’s character just by viewing them.

Bled Local Selection marks specialities, such as the Bled Cream Cake, and many Bled treats. You may put products branded Bohinjsko – From Bohinj, such as Mohant, into, for example, a small wooden Bohinj crate. Idrija izbrano, a brand of special features of the geopark at the UNESCO heritage site of the mercury mine, includes a lacy dessert that refers to the knowledge of bobbin lacemaking in the town. The certificate of the Dobrote Dolenjske brand includes around 500 products which must contain over 70 per cent ingredients from the region in south-eastern Slovenia. Culinary and craft products from the region in Central Slovenia stretching from the Alps to Dolenjska are brought together under the Srce Slovenije brand.

Explore how gourmet delights are connected to craft and glass-making creativity in Slovenia

Products of Slovenian glassworkers are taking over the world, and craftsmen know how important cutting boards or honey spoons are.

Certificates of local collective brands are held by many wooden products which supplement the selection of culinary treats with their usefulness. Steklarna Rogaška and Steklarna Hrastnik fascinate with products that enrich the experiences of Slovenian wines and waters. Their products may be found in boutique souvenir shops.

You can create souvenirs for friends at workshops while learning culinary skills

Rather than things, we sometimes prefer to take experiences and knowledge with us to whip up flavours of Slovenia for our friends.

Learn how to make “little bread” in Škofji Loka, and decorate your own honeybread heart in Radovljica. Make a typical Slovenian three-course meal at Cooking class Ljubljana. You will learn how to prepare typical dishes to old recipes in Slovenian Istria, the Vipava Valley, and elsewhere. Ask about workshops at tourist information centres.

Workshop

If you are interested in cooking, you can spot and buy items, ingredients, and specialities related to it – everywhere. In specialised shops, at open-air markets, while scouring rural areas.

If you know Slovenia’s special features, you’ll notice products worth buying in ordinary grocery stores. In towns, particularly in the centres of historical towns in Slovenia, you will be attracted to boutique shops. Certain farm stays and excursion farms bring products to your home, and in all three wine-growing regions, cellars and wineries fascinate with their wines. Genuine branded products may be found in shops of individual brands in their home town or in Ljubljana (e.g. Piranske soline, Rogaška, Dobrote Dolenjske).
